David Mitchell Physiotherapist MSc, BSc (Hons), DIP, Certified Bike fitter

As keen sportsman himself, David has extensive experience in caring for his own physical health. As a physiotherapist, he has gained wide experience practising in a number of areas in both the UK and Australia.  Now focused on providing a varied physiotherapy service covering all ages and abilities. 

David began his career studying a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport and Exercise Science specialising in sports injuries.  Graduating in 2008 he then worked in a rock climbing centre as an instructor and youth climbing coach.  He continued this work whilst obtaining a Masters in Physiotherapy. 

Since graduating he has worked as a physiotherapist out of the Rock climbing centre before moving to Australia in 2013 to work as a physiotherapist in a number of Retirement homes.  Here he was the sole physiotherapist for two centres where he was responsible for daily exercise classes, management of neurological conditions, post operative care, staff manual handling training, elderly mobility classes and pain management programs. 

Upon moving to Gibraltar, David has worked for the last 3 years in association with the Gibraltar Football Association as a physiotherapist to the U16, 17, 19 and 21 international squads.  At the beginning of the 2017/18 football season David became the Gibraltar Referees fitness instructor, responsible for the fitness demands for local referees ensuring that they meet the standards placed by both UEFA and FIFA.

David has also recently completed extensive Bike Fitting training from respected UK bike fitter Tony Corke, and is now offering these services for the first time locally here in Gibraltar.

David’s ongoing professional education is focused on his passion for providing a well rounded physiotherapy service based on clinical reasoning and evidence based practise.  Keeping up to date with the ever changing research to provide quality care for everybody, from your professional athlete/weekend warrior to work and office related aches pain as well as elderly rehabilitation and pain management.
